Hluboká Castle is an iconic Neo-Gothic monument with a white exterior, rich interiors, and several tour routes, including a winter one.
Rožmberk Castle is one of the oldest and most beautiful castles in the Czech Republic. Its location on a rocky promontory, well-preserved interiors, and rich history make it one of the most visited monuments in South Bohemia.

Rožmberk Castle was founded in the 13th century by Vok I of Rožmberk, son of Vítek of Prčice and founder of the powerful Rožmberk dynasty. Originally, it was a complex of two castles – the Upper and Lower Rožmberk. Only the Jakobínka tower has survived from the Upper Castle, which has undergone a unique reconstruction and today serves as a lookout tower. The Lower Castle gained its romantic appearance in the 19th century thanks to the Buquoy family, who established one of the first museums in Bohemia here.
Today, Rožmberk Castle is managed by the National Heritage Institute and is one of the national cultural monuments of the Czech Republic. Visitors can view the richly furnished interiors, which map the lives of both the Rožmberks and the Buquoys. Besides the famous White Lady Perchta, the castle executioner’s house with an exhibition of the right of torture is also a major draw. The Jakobínka tower is also open, serving as a lookout with one of the most beautiful views of the town and the Vltava valley.
Rožmberk Castle is open seasonally, usually from April to October. Visitors can choose from several tour routes showcasing representative halls, private rooms, and the Buquoy collections. Separate admission applies to the executioner’s house and the Jakobínka tower, which can be visited without the main tour. At the foot of the castle is a popular paddling stop, which gives the place a unique atmosphere.
