Graphite Mine Český Krumlov – become a miner for a day. You’ll get full equipment and ride an original mine train 70 meters below the surface. An adventurous journey through the history of “black gold” mining, which lasted over 200 years in Krumlov, awaits you.
Important: It’s cool in the mine, so bring a sweatshirt even in summer.
The tour starts in style. You’ll board an original train that miners used to take to their shifts. It will take you deep underground to the start of the tour circuit.
A guide will lead you through tunnels where graphite was mined for pencils, paints, and industry. You’ll learn how work was done in the 19th and 20th centuries and see original equipment.
To make the experience authentic (and keep your clothes clean), everyone receives before entry:
You can have refreshments directly on the mine premises after the tour. Parking is free right at the entrance, making the mine a very convenient destination for a family trip.
Parking is located directly at the Graphite Mine premises. It’s just a few steps from your car to the ticket office and the train boarding point.
The mine operates seasonally. It is closed during winter, and tours usually start again in spring, typically in May. In summer, it is open daily, while in spring and autumn mostly on selected days.
