A 10 km loop awaits you, starting as an inconspicuous walk from Lipno but quickly drawing you into the Šumava wilderness among granite giants. A rock city, 11 unique formations, and two viewpoints that are worth every step.

We start at the central parking lot under the ski slopes in Lipno nad Vltavou. The first four kilometers are completely relaxed – ideal for warming up your legs. However, everything changes about a kilometer before the summit. The path begins to climb steeply, and this is where the most beautiful part of the trip begins. You pass five majestic rock formations, shaped here for centuries by the harsh Šumava climate.
Mount Luč (933 m n. m.) is the dominant feature above Loučovice. Interestingly, its name is likely derived from the Old Slavonic word for “parting” or “separation” – the mountain acts as a lonely guardian separated from the main Šumava ridge by the deep Vltava valley. The summit itself lies a few dozen meters further, but the most beautiful view awaits you before it – facing Lake Lipno. From here, you can see the Lipno II reservoir in the palm of your hand and, deep below, the riverbed and the Devil’s Stones.
From the summit, we continue through the rock city, passing more granite formations. The route then descends steeply through the forest towards the river. A short distance below the summit, another viewpoint opens up, from where you can see Lipno nad Vltavou. About a kilometer before the actual dam, you emerge from the forest directly onto the asphalt cycle path by the Vltava. The silence of the forest is replaced by the smooth asphalt of the cycle path – a pleasant change after the steep descent. From here, it is only a short distance to the Lake Lipno I dam, via which you return to the parking lot along the lakeside path and the lively lake promenade.
After a long trip, you deserve a place where you can truly switch off. Luč is beautiful, but it gives your legs a workout – all the more reason to appreciate the comfort upon your return.
Our family apartments Nad rybníky at Lake Lipno are an ideal base for exploring the surroundings – whether you are heading out on a hike, for monuments, or a trip with children. Peace, comfort, a large garden, pool, playground, and a fish restaurant await you, where you can truly enjoy yourself after your return. For children, there are plenty of cycle paths, beaches, and other experiences for kids.
Book your stay, while there is still plenty to choose from.
We look forward to seeing you!
