Why Povydří is Ideal for a Family Trip
Povydří offers natural adventure at every step. The route is easy enough for families with children and yet offers constant discovery. Your children won’t need tablets or artificial attractions; they will be fascinated by the real wilderness!
How to Get There and a Tip for Families
For the perfect experience, start at the parking lot in Antýgl and proceed towards Čeňkova Pila (it’s slightly downhill). The route measures 7.5 km, which means 15 km round trip – and that can be demanding for smaller children.
💡 Our Tip: If you are traveling with a group and have two cars, leave one parked at the bottom at Čeňkova Pila and drive the other to Antýgl. You’ll save yourself the walk back uphill. If you only have one car, you can use the bus that regularly shuttles between Čeňkova Pila and Antýgl (stop Srní, Čeňkova Pila -> Srní, Antýgl).

❄️ Povydří in Winter: An Ice Kingdom for the Brave
Povydří is one of the most beautiful places in Šumava even under snow, but it has its rules. The trail is accessible year-round, but in winter it is not maintained (no salt or grit). Thick ice often forms here, so quality microspikes are a necessity – without them, the journey can be hazardous. Also, watch out for falling ice from the rocks above the path. However, your reward will be breathtaking views of the frozen river and a peace you won’t experience in summer. Turner’s Hut is usually open in winter too, so you can look forward to hot soup or tea.
