Looking for a destination for an easy walk with an absolutely great view? Try the Lake Viewpoint (Jezerní vyhlídka) near Horní Planá. It is a “mini-lookout”, but don’t be fooled by its size. The saying fits it perfectly: small tower, but big views.
It was the very first lookout tower in Horní Planá (built in 2016), later supplemented by the newer and more famous Dobrá Voda lookout. It offers a beautiful view of Lipno and the surroundings of Horní Planá.
And most importantly: After recent reconstruction, it has a new, repaired staircase and is fully operational again! From our apartments, it is a beautiful 4 km walk.
What will you see and how to get there?
The lookout is only about 8 meters high, so it resembles a sturdy hunting stand. But it is strategically placed on a hill (approx. 805 m a.s.l.) and the view is really worth it. You will see Horní Planá in the palm of your hand, Lipno, and the peaks on the other side – such as Vítkův kámen, Smrčina, Hraničník, Plechý…
How to get there?
- By car + on foot: If you are in a hurry, you can park at the end of the street near the industrial area (GK-Mont company) on the outskirts of Horní Planá. From there it is just a short walk (approx. 600 m) along the Adalbert Stifter nature trail. From the square about 1.3 km.
- On foot from the Apartments (approx. 4 km): From Apartments Nad rybníky it is a pleasant walk (or an easy bike trip) that can be managed even with children. The path leads through beautiful nature. Mostly through the forest, so it cools pleasantly in the heat. From the Lake Viewpoint, you can go to Horní Planá and return along the water on a nice cycle path.

After a walk to the Lake Viewpoint, you deserve a place where the whole family can relax. Our comfortable accommodation for families with children at Lipno is the ideal base for such trips.
We have a large fenced garden, children’s playground, saltwater pool, and quiet facilities for parents.
And when you want to go out? Lipno has plenty to offer outside the resort as well: we recommend other trips, cycle paths, beaches with swimming, or perhaps visiting monuments. And in the evening back again – to us in the garden, where the children continue their adventure and you finally open something cold.
