Stožec Cycle Path: Train & Bike (3.9–15 km, 0–16 m ↑)
This cycle route is perfect for families with small children – combine a great train trip with swimming in the Vltava River and a short ride almost on the flat.
The Lakeside Cycling Path, Twice by Ferry Across Lake Lipno (43 km, 461 m elevation)
Want to see as much as possible from the saddle? Enjoy a great circuit with two ferry rides that hugs the shores of Lipno. The ideal choice for a relaxing trip with beautiful views of the water.
Cycling Around Lake Lipno! (79 km, 724 m elevation)
Asking how many km it is around Lipno? Get ready for a 79 km challenge. A full-day trip with magnificent views where you will cycle around the entire lake and climb over 700 meters.
Family Lake Lipno cycling route with swimming and a ferry (19.5 km, 50 m) 10+
We have personally tested this route with children. A relaxing ride on the flat along the water, stops for swimming and ice cream, and a ferry return as the highlight.
Cycling Route to Plešné Lake (27 km, 410 m elevation)
Lipno by bike offers so many different natural and technical monuments. When you set off on this cycling trip, you will see both. The glacial lake and the Schwarzenberg Canal.
Schwarzenberg Cycling Trail (44 km, 10 m elevation)
A ride along a technical marvel of Šumava. A 44 km long route with minimal elevation gain leads through deep forests, past the Jelení Tunnel, and offers pleasant shade in the heat.
Lipno Magistrale (53 km, 229 m elevation)
The main artery for relaxing cycling at Lipno. Almost flat along the left bank connecting Vyšší Brod, Lipno, Frymburk, and Nová Pec. Ideal for a full-day trip with the family.
Lipno – Vyšší Brod Cycle Path (8.4 km, 18 m ↑ / 159 m ↓)
A short and relaxing route for families. It leads mostly downhill along the Vltava River, offers stops at the Devil’s Wall, and an easy return by train.
To Vítkův Hrádek by Ferry Across Lake Lipno (38 km, 480 m elevation)
A combination of cycling and a ferry ride. A challenging climb awaits you, but the reward is the absolute best view of the entire Lipno from the highest castle in Bohemia.
Vltava Canyon Cycling Route for Families and Cyclists (40 km, 448 m elevation) or (8.4 km, 20 m elevation)
A sports circuit for fitter cyclists. It starts with a relaxing descent along the Vltava River past the Devil’s Wall, followed by a challenging climb and a return by ferry across Lipno.
Cycling to Třístoličník (65 km, 584 m elevation)
A combination of a relaxing ride along the Vltava and a sports challenge. Climb to the top of Třístoličník and enjoy a long descent along the Schwarzenberg Canal.
The Austrian Ride – A Cycling Trip That Has It All (56 km, 781 m elevation)
An international circuit for the more demanding. Ride along the Schwarzenberg Canal, cross the border into Austria under Hochficht, and return by ferry across Lipno.
Cycle Trip to Špičák (35 km, elevation gain 484 m)
Lipno isn’t just about flat routes. Head to Špičák for a short but intense ride mostly on quality asphalt. You will be rewarded with deep forests and the silence of the military area without crowds.
Along the Water & by Cable Car + Singletrail Frymburk (14 km, 129 m ascent) 10+
A great mix of cycling and fun for more active kids. A relaxing ride along the water, a cable car ride up to Kramolín, and a descent down a playful forest singletrack.
Cycling Route Around Boletice from Lake Lipno (109 km, 1,869 m elevation)
A true test of your fitness. Set off on a 109 km loop through the rugged nature of Šumava around the Boletice Military Area. Challenging climbs and rewarding kilometers in the saddle await you.
Kids’ Cycling Path from Hůrka to Planá and Back (11 km, 94 m)
We know this route by heart with our children. A relaxing ride right along the shore that even the smallest ones can handle. Expect stops at beaches, ice cream, and safe asphalt.
With Kids up to Maňava for the Views (24 km, 235 m ↑) 10+
Want to see Lipno from a different perspective? Head for a quiet ride via Maňava. Expect beautiful views of the countryside, minimal tourists, and a return along the water.
To Světlík and the Pond Loop (38 km · 357 m elevation)
A short but varied loop from Hůrka to Světlík, past ponds on former peatlands, a long forest descent on the Šumavská 33 and a return along the Lipno shoreline via Windy Point.
The Schwarzenberg Canal + Lake Lipno Cycling Route (120 km, 581 m elevation)
Here, kilometers count, not meters climbed. A 120 km loop along the entire Schwarzenberg Canal into Austria. The ideal route to clear your head in the deep forests.
Cycling Tour Around Little Lipno and Olšina (21 km, 305 m elevation) 10+
A trip for fitter children to the highest pond Olšina. Expect swimming at the beach, a nature trail, and a reward in the form of adventure golf.
Cycling trip around Horní Planá with views (20 km, elevation gain 272 m)
A relaxing circuit for the best views of Horní Planá. Climb up to the Lake Viewpoint and Dobrá Voda lookout tower, then enjoy the ride back down to Lipno.
Hučínská Cycle Route (26 km, 171 m elevation)
A short but varied cycle route from Nová Pec, combining the Stožecká cycle path, a section of the Bear Trail and the iconic tunnel of the Schwarzenberg Canal. One honest climb, peaceful forest scenery and a rewarding descent back to Nová Pec.
Cycling Route Around Pláničský Pond and Windy Point (28 km, 158 m elevation) 10+
A swimming trip for the whole family. Enjoy a ride through the forest to the Pláničský pond and end it on the sandy Windy Point beach with a drink in hand.
Challenging Cycling Trip at Lipno (137 km, 1,220 m elevation)
A route for true athletes that will put you to the test. Expect 137 km, a crossing into Austria, historic Rožmberk, and a solid portion of vertical meters.
Bikepark Lipno
Looking for adrenaline and fun for kids? Bikepark Lipno offers a blue flow trail for families and a red one for experts. The cable car takes you up, the rental shop equips you, and you enjoy a great ride on the berms.
Singletrail Frymburk
Fun descent from Marta hill with a view of Lipno. A route for recreational cyclists and older children, free entry, and a relaxing forest path leads up.

Excellent infrastructure makes planning your trip easy
Bike Bus
In summer, the main blue bike‑bus line runs around Lake Lipno with a trailer for up to 30 bikes. It connects Rožmberk, Vyšší Brod, Loučovice, Lipno nad Vltavou, Frymburk, Černá v Pošumaví, Horní Planá, Nová Pec and Jelení Vrchy. Perfect for returning from longer rides or getting to the start of your route.
Trains
Along Lake Lipno and across the Šumava region, trains with bike transport operate regularly. Two routes are especially useful: Lipno → Vyšší Brod along the Devil’s Rapids and Hůrka → Horní Planá → Nová Pec → Stožec → Nové Údolí, where beautiful Šumava cycling trails begin. Lipno Line Boats
On selected routes (green and pink), Lipno Line officially transports bicycles. In the main season the boats run regularly; off‑season the service is limited. Bikes are most often transported between Lipno nad Vltavou, Frymburk, Dolní Vltavice, Černá v Pošumaví and Horní Planá. A simple way to shorten your ride or enjoy a relaxed cycling loop.
