Where to get fishing permits for Lake Lipno

For legal fishing at Lake Lipno, you need a valid fishing license and a fishing permit. You can arrange for a Czech fishing license at your place of permanent residence, or at the Horní Planá Municipal Office (nám. Čs. armády 54). Permits can be purchased at the fishing shop opposite the municipal office in Horní Planá, at Pension Adler in Hůrka, or at other specialized shops in the area. Don’t forget that fishing at Lake Lipno is subject to fishing regulations, which set the rules for fishing, closed seasons, and minimum catch sizes.

Pension Adler in Hůrka – fishing permit sales

Pension Adler offers regional permits, which you can buy directly in Hůrka. Sales are every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Annual adult (non-trout/trout): 2,200 CZK
  • Annual youth 16–18 years (non-trout/trout): 1,100 CZK
  • 10-day adult (non-trout/trout): 1,100 CZK
  • 10-day youth 16–18 years (non-trout/trout): 800 CZK
  • 3-day adult + youth (non-trout/trout): 800 CZK

Tips for successful fishing at Lake Lipno

The right choice of location significantly affects your success. Coves and shallower areas have proven to be successful for catching carp, while predators prefer open water and deeper areas. Experiment with your bait. Carp respond to boilies, corn, and pellets, while predators respond to wobblers, soft lures, and spoons.

For the maximum chance of a catch, we recommend fishing for predators at dawn or dusk, when they are most active. Carp, on the other hand, bite all day long. A specialty of Lake Lipno is the option of deep trolling, dragging bait behind a moving boat, but only with one rod and one allowed lure.

Fishing season at Lake Lipno

Lake Lipno offers year-round fishing, with the exception of predator fishing, which is permitted from June 16 to December 31. These rules serve to protect the fish population during the breeding season.
