The Schwarzenberg Canal + Lake Lipno Cycling Route (120 km, 581 m elevation)

Gravel MTB

This cycle route has real kick. Not so much for its elevation, but rather its length. However, you will see wonders along the way and clear your head. The main point of interest is the Schwarzenberg Shipping Canal – a fascinating historic water canal located in the Bohemian Forest region. It was built in the 18th and 19th centuries, and its primary purpose was transporting timber from the hard-to-reach Bohemian forests to Vienna. You will see the entire length of it on this route. Plus, views of Lake Lipno.

The cycle path leads mainly along reinforced forest paths and asphalt sections, allowing you to ride comfortably through the surrounding nature. Some sections of the path are also located on Austrian territory. For cyclists, it is a great opportunity to explore the beauty of the Bohemian Forest while getting to know the history of this impressive water engineering project. So get pedaling!
