Southern Loop on the Right Bank of Lake Lipno (60 km, 560 m elevation gain)

Variable Start. You can set off from any of the three ferries – Dolní Vltavice – Kyselov, Frymburk – Frýdava or Ferry Hrdoňov – Svatý Tomáš. No matter where you start, you can look forward to pleasant forest sections in the shade, high-quality asphalt, minimal traffic, and peaceful views of the Vltava and Lake Lipno. The route is ideal for road cyclists, families, and leisure riders who want to enjoy a smooth ride without rushing.

We start at the ferry in Dolní Vltavice and immediately after setting off, turn left onto Vltavská 1033. After about 1.5 km, we turn right onto cycling path 1019, which leads us up two gentle hills to Pasečná. This is an ideal place for a break – Restaurace a Bistro Resort Pasečná serves excellent coffee that road cyclists truly appreciate.

From Pasečná, we continue towards the biggest climb of the entire route. After conquering it, a long descent with a drop of nearly 400 meters awaits us. The very beginning is on broken asphalt with stones – a little training for “Paris–Roubaix” – but after a few hundred meters, the surface improves, and the descent becomes smooth and fast.

The descent brings us directly to Vyšší Brod, where we cross the Vltava over a wooden bridge with a beautiful view of the monastery. After about 400 meters, we cross the river once more, this time via the main bridge, and immediately turn right onto the Lipno – Vyšší Brod cycling path.

This section goes uphill, but the beginning features brand new asphalt, so it rolls beautifully. Along the way, we pass Čertova stěna and ride through Loučovice all the way to the Lipno I dam.

From there, we continue along Vltavská 7 through Přední Výtoň and Frýdava back to the Dolní Vltavice – Kyselov ferry, where the loop elegantly closes.

• Resort Pasečná — great coffee and an ideal break after the first kilometers
• Descent to Vyšší Brod — nearly 400 meters of elevation drop, one of the longest descents in the area
• Monastery in Vyšší Brod — an iconic landmark of the town, beautiful view from the wooden bridge
• Čertova stěna — a rock reserve right above the route, a popular spot for a short stop
• Lipno I Dam — a technical point of interest and beautiful views of Lake Lipno and the Vltava River
