Family Lake Lipno cycling route with swimming and a ferry (19.5 km, 50 m) 10+
A very popular cycling trip for families at Lake Lipno. It combines a flat ride along the water, swimming at beaches, ice cream, and as a highlight – a return trip by ferry. Ideal for children who can already cycle a few kilometers or ride in a seat/trailer.
We have personally tested this route with our children – we know where to stop for a swim, where to recharge, and what kids really enjoy. The start is in Frymburk, where there is a beach with a playground and refreshments right next to the cycle path. From there, you ride safely and almost on the flat towards Lipno nad Vltavou – even smaller children on bikes, scooters, or balance bikes can handle it.
In Lipno, a great stop awaits at the beach – kids will enjoy swimming and ice cream, parents a coffee or lunch. The route continues to Přední Výtoň, where you will find the last large sandy beach with refreshments before the journey to Frýdava. Beyond Výtoň, you can also access the water – small beaches here are almost always empty. It’s “wild” swimming, without refreshments, but children see it as an adventure, and parents appreciate the peace.
From Frýdava, the ferry back to Frymburk is the biggest experience for children. Just be careful – there is no swimming at the ferry; it is reserved for boats.

From minute 5:08 (second 308), you will see the route along the lake – although the video goes in the opposite direction, it beautifully shows the safe flat terrain, beaches, and refreshments along the way.

Parent tips
- Take swimsuits right from the start – the beach in Frymburk is handy before and after the trip; in Lipno, it’s obvious too.
- Plan stops according to “kid fuel” – ice cream, pancake, playground. It works.
- Inlines? Yes. Just expect a larger number of cyclists in the season and keep children on the right side.
- The ferry is a highlight – it motivates children even on the way back. (No swimming at the ferry.)
