Want to see Lipno from a different perspective? Head for a quiet ride via Maňava. Expect beautiful views of the countryside, minimal tourists, and a return along the water.
Cycle paths around Horní Planá and Lake Lipno are not just about flat terrain and in-line skating. Right around the corner hides a hill that is absolutely ideal for a short, intensive ride through deep forests – Špičák. This loop will not only test your fitness but also offer a route through beautiful nature in places where you won’t meet crowds of tourists.
Route Course: From the shores of Lake Lipno to the summit of Špičák
The short but intensive cycle route starts in Hůrka. First, head along the flat Lakeside Cycle Path through Horní Planá (cycle route no. 33) along the water. Before Pernek, turn right, where the route begins to undulate and eventually gain elevation.
Here begins the first climb up Kapradinec hill (1083 m above sea level). Although the terrain is demanding, you will ride on beautiful, high-quality asphalt, which makes the whole trip more pleasant. The climb is varied and includes sections where you can comfortably rest. At the T-junction at the top, turn left, followed by a longer flat section that ends with a right turn onto the Carriage Road and the final climb to Špičák (1223 m above sea level). It is a paved road and a beautiful final climb on the route. Before the summit, you will find a tourist shelter with a spring.
Then all that’s left is a relaxing ride – through beautiful nature and deep forests. Part of the route follows the borders of the Boletice military area. The main experience is the silence, fresh air, and the Bohemian Forest splendor of forest paths surrounding you. If you are not in a hurry, you can stop at the beautiful viewpoints Špičák offers on the way back. On your way back to the apartment, don’t forget to slow down at the Fish Restaurant in Hůrka.
