Cycling Around Lake Lipno! (79 km, 724 m elevation)
Asking how many km it is around Lipno? Get ready for a 79 km challenge. A full-day trip with magnificent views where you will cycle around the entire lake and climb over 700 meters.
This route is for children who already have some experience and want to experience a real adventure. You can look forward to a relaxed ride on the Lakeside Cycle Path, a cable car ride with bikes up to Kramolín, and the highlight of the day – a fun forest descent along the Frymburk Singletrail. The route is about 14 km long, and thanks to the cable car, you save yourself the worst climb.
We start in Frymburk, from where you ride on flat ground along the water to Lipno nad Vltavou. There you take the cable car to Kramolín (they will take your bikes up). At the top, you can make a stop at the famous Treetop Walkway or in the family park Kingdom of the Forest. The path then continues through the forest back towards Frymburk. Here comes the only major climb that will test the children, but the reward is worth it. From the chapel on Marta hill, where there is a wonderful view of the lake, you just zip down the playful Frymburk Singletrail back to the water.
Parameters and for whom the route is suitable
- Length: approx. 14 km
- Profile: one longer forest climb, the rest is descent/flat (the biggest hill is handled by the cable car)
- Surface: forest paths, gravel, and asphalt along the lake
- Suitable for: children from approx. 10 years old (must be able to brake safely and hold a line in terrain) and recreational riders
- Stops: Treetop Walkway, viewpoint at the chapel on Marta hill, beaches and refreshments by the water
Tips for parents
- Helmet is mandatory; on the trail, we also recommend knee and elbow pads.
- When descending the Singletrail, start slowly so the kids can get a feel for the banked turns and the surface.
- Refreshments: there are plenty of options in Frymburk and Lipno.
- Swimming: after the finish, you can freshen up at the beach in Frymburk.
- Photo tip: the viewpoint at the chapel on Marta hill offers one of the best views of Frymburk and the lake.
