This Autumn at Lipno Is Different. Come See It with Your Own Eyes!
Discover the Treasures of Lipno: The Water Has Receded, but the Season Isn’t Over
The summer crowds are gone, but Lipno is still alive. October and November bring peace, beautiful colors, and rare conditions you don’t see every year. This year, the reservoir’s water level is the lowest since 2003 — which means one thing: autumn at Lipno offers views and experiences you won’t usually find.
Forget ordinary autumn walks. Come to us in Hůrka and walk across a lakebed that’s been hidden for years!
What’s Happening by the Water? First Time Since 2003!
The low water level at Lipno is the main attraction. It has dropped by about 30 cm each month, revealing the shoreline and uncovering hidden treasures. You can check the current level on the Povodí Vltavy website.
- Walk to Little Taiwan! Here in Hůrka, something is happening that hasn’t been seen in 22 years. You can now walk dry-footed to the so-called Little Taiwan, right where the old railway line used to run before the area was flooded. This rare phenomenon is attracting curious visitors and hikers. Come explore the newly revealed landscape yourself!
- Treasure hunters: Kids (and adults) can play, rescue mussels, admire submerged tree stumps, collect unusual stones, or simply watch the changing landscape. It’s like walking on the bottom of the ocean!
- Autumn walks along the exposed shores: Stroll through places that are usually underwater and enjoy the autumn colors reflected in the calm surface of the lake.
Exclusive Tip: Lipno’s Lakebed Won’t Be Visible for Long!
This chance to walk on the lakebed is rare and won’t last forever. A similar opportunity may not come again until 2027, when Lipno is expected to be lowered another 60 cm for the planned construction of a new marina by Povodí Vltavy. According to current information, it’s still unclear whether the necessary permits will be granted in time. This autumn is a unique and guaranteed chance to see Lipno at its lowest.
