Famous Inline Routes at Lake Lipno

Explore the well‑known inline routes, each with a completely different character. The Lake Trail between Frymburk and Lipno is the best-known classic — smooth asphalt right by the water and a relaxed ride for everyone. The section from Horní Planá to Nová Pec will be appreciated by those who want peace, space, and long straight stretches without crowds. If you feel like a brisk ride, the descent from Lipno to Vyšší Brod will take you there with practically no effort. For something truly special, we recommend the Stožec Trail — the silence of the Bohemian Forest, river meanders, and the option to return by train depending on your strength.

1. Lake Classic: Frymburk – Lipno – Přední Výtoň

The Lake Inline Trail is an absolute Lipno classic known to almost everyone who has ever stood on inline skates at Lake Lipno. Smooth asphalt, flat terrain, long stretches right by the water, and evening lighting in Lipno nad Vltavou make it an ideal route for a relaxed ride and your first kilometers. Below you will find three ways to experience this section.

  • Absolute Classic: Frymburk – Lipno nad Vltavou (8.5 km) The most popular route for families with children and beginners. It is essentially flat and extremely safe.
    Route Description Frymburk – Lipno
  • Extended Ride: Frymburk – Lipno – Přední Výtoň (14.5 km one way) If a stop in Lipno isn’t enough, you can continue along the shore to Přední Výtoň. The path remains high-quality and offers more swimming spots.
  • Big Loop with Boat: Frymburk – Přední Výtoň – Frýdava (19.5 km) A route for trained skaters. From Přední Výtoň, continue to Frýdava, where you return to Frymburk by boat.
Note: The section between Přední Výtoň and Frýdava is on the road. While not busy, cars pass occasionally, so we do not recommend this part for small children.
Ferry: The boat trip is a huge experience for kids; find current schedules in our overview.

2. Inline Trail Horní Planá – Nová Pec

The start of the trail from Jenišov toward Horní Planá is ideal for all skaters — flat, wide, and with quality surface. It runs directly along the lake as seen in the video below. We recommend ending in Bělá — after it, a steep climb and subsequent descent begin, which lead directly onto the main road.

  • Width and Surface: The path is exceptionally wide with perfect asphalt — ideal for stable riding and longer strides. Athletes on roller skis often train here.
  • Space for Training: Compared to busy sections near Lipno, there are minimal people here, so you can ride smoothly and maintain your pace.
  • Profile: A total flat run through meadows to the very beginning of Lake Lipno. Length 9 km and elevation gain of only 7 meters — an ideal section for technique and endurance.

3. Stožec Inline Trail

The Stožec Inline Trail is the ideal choice for those who want to enjoy the Bohemian Forest nature and peace along the Vltava River meanders. The entire route passes through the Bohemian Forest National Park and is rightly considered by many as the most beautiful cycling path in the Czech Republic.

  • Start in Nová Pec: Start from Nová Pec on perfect asphalt leading along the Vltava River toward Černý Kříž and Stožec.
  • Swimming in the Vltava River: You can refresh yourself “wild” directly in the river along the way. The trail follows the river flow and water access is easy in several places.
  • Flexible Return by Train: You don’t have to skate all the way back. Just hop on the local train at Černý Kříž or Stožec to get back to Nová Pec.
  • Peace and Shade: The route runs in the pleasant shade of the forest, which is an invaluable advantage in summer.
  • Length and Profile: The entire route is 16 km long with an elevation gain of only 10 meters.
