10 tips for things to do with kids in Český Krumlov

Český Krumlov is no longer just a destination for couples or paddlers. The historic centre offers plenty of family-friendly stops where children can step into the worlds of film heroes, fairy-tale puppets, mysterious underground spaces and medieval crafts.

Bears in the castle moat

The bear moat at Český Krumlov Castle is one of the highlights for families. Bears have been kept here since the 16th century, symbolising the noble Rosenberg family, whose coat of arms also features a bear. Children enjoy watching them move around, rest or play. It’s a short stop on the way to the first courtyard, but one that makes the castle visit much more engaging for kids.

After this quick visit, you can head into the town centre, where plenty of fun, games and discoveries await. Whether you’re escaping the rain or simply looking for something more playful alongside historical sightseeing, Český Krumlov offers attractions children will genuinely enjoy.

1) Fun in the centre — in any weather

2) Outdoor adventures and unique experiences

Parking in Český Krumlov

If you arrive by car, the most convenient option is P1 – Jelenka, just a few minutes’ walk from the centre. P2 and P3 are good alternatives and usually have enough capacity even in high season. Parking in the historic centre is not possible, so it’s best to leave your car in one of these official car parks and continue on foot.
